Softbrook Loom
EST 2019

Our story began with a single skein.

Softbrook Loom grew from a small studio overlooking the redwoods into a sanctuary for those who knit slowly and intentionally.

Our beginning

Founded by Elara Voss in a converted garden shed in Northern California, Softbrook Loom began as a weekly circle of six curious knitters sharing tea and techniques.

Word spread quietly through forest trails and neighborhood yarn shops until we opened our first sunlit studio in 2021. Today our community spans twelve countries but remains bound by the same gentle philosophy: craft without rush.

The first class

Six women, two skeins of undyed wool, and a single promise to finish every project deliberately.

What guides us

01
Mindful pacing

Every lesson respects the natural rhythm of hands and breath. No deadlines, only depth.

02
Sustainable practice

We source only traceable fibers from small farms and teach repair before replacement.

03
Generous sharing

Knowledge flows freely. Every graduate becomes a mentor to the next cohort.
